John McDonnell, the local MP for Hayes and Harlington and also the Shadow Chancellor, came to visit the Year 5 pupils to talk about the Heathrow expansion plans. Mr McDonnell has campaigned tirelessly over many years to stop the expansion of Heathrow, as he feels that not only will this have an enormous effect on the environment, but will also have an impact on the health of the people who live in the surrounding areas. He does however, recognise that many of the children’s parents rely on Heathrow to provide them with jobs.
Children and parents/carers had an afternoon full of entertainment.
Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that affects how people perceive the world and interact with others. As an inclusive school Belmore strives to raise awareness and support children and families that may be impacted by autism.
Reception children had an exciting experience caring for chicken eggs and watching them hatched.
A group of children joined the Mayor of Hillingdon on a walk to help raise money for Charity.
Belmore held an amazing Easter Raffle event with exciting prizes to be won. Our staff kindly donated all Easter Egg Chocolates and each team did a phenomenal job at making beautiful Hampers as prizes for the raffle.
Year 1 and Year 2 had an exciting day full of fascinating science experiments carried out by Professor Bubbleworks.
Belmore went Red again this year to support Comic Relief and had a fantastic day raising money. The children even had a surprise visit from Minnie Mouse.
Year 5 went to collect data and experience the airport roads. This was part of their geography topic, all about the expansion of Heathrow Airport. On the trip, they looked at the volume of traffic and collected noise data using a decibel meter.
Year 1 children had an opportunity to take a journey in the lifetime of Florence Nightingale. They learnt about her life as a young girl growing up with her family and what inspired her to become a nurse.
This week the whole of Belmore got creative! The mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, invited all of the London schools to imagine what they would like to see on the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square.
