Design Technology

At Belmore, our Design Technology (DT) curriculum aims to inspire creativity, problem-solving, and practical skills in every child. We want to develop young learners who can think critically, design thoughtfully, and make with purpose. By engaging in hands-on projects, students will explore the processes of designing, making, and evaluating, fostering a love for innovation and invention.

Our intent is to provide opportunities for children to work with a wide range of materials, tools, and technologies, encouraging them to experiment and refine their ideas. We aim for students to understand the importance of design in everyday life and the impact it has on the world around us, whether through designing products, systems, or structures.

Through Design Technology, children will develop key skills such as creativity, resilience, and collaboration, while also learning about sustainability, safety, and the importance of evaluating and improving their work. We aim to empower students to become confident and capable creators, inspiring them to use their imagination and skills to solve real-world challenges.

By the end of their primary school journey, we want every child to have developed a strong foundation in Design Technology, equipped with the confidence to continue exploring, designing, and creating throughout their lives.
