French
At Belmore, our French curriculum is designed to ignite a passion for languages and cultures, fostering an early appreciation of the French language. We aim to provide students with the tools to communicate confidently in French, while also encouraging curiosity about the world beyond their own culture.
Our intent is to develop students’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in French, creating a foundation for further language learning. Through interactive lessons, songs, games, and stories, we seek to make learning French an enjoyable and enriching experience. We want children to feel empowered to use the language in everyday situations, as well as to develop an understanding of French-speaking cultures, traditions, and geography.
We believe that language learning opens doors to new perspectives, enhances cognitive skills, and promotes empathy for others. By the end of their primary school journey, our goal is for students to have a solid understanding of basic French vocabulary and structures, as well as a love for language learning that they can build on in the future.
Our curriculum aims to not only teach French but to help students develop a lifelong curiosity and respect for other languages and cultures, empowering them to embrace the global community in an increasingly interconnected world.
